Upon the invitation of Prof. Kishore Mahbubani, Dean of Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy (the School hereafter), National University of Singapore (NUS), the delegation led by Dr. Li Ruohong, Chairman of China World Peace Foundation (CWPF) visited the school and carried out academic exchanges with the faculty.

Dr. Li gave the officials studying a master’s program at the School, a lecture themed “NGOs in China”, exploring the current status and future development of NGOs in China, which was applauded by the audience and ended with Q&A.

This year marks the 25th anniversary of the establishment of the diplomatic tie between China and Singapore, both of which are crucial parts in the Asian community. H.E. Mr. Xi Jinping, President of China planned a visit to NUS a few days later. The visit of China World Peace Foundation to Singapore demonstrated the will of NGOs in China to shoulder social responsibility with the government and enterprises. In the cooperation with LKY School, CWPF will focus on the theme of “peace+1” and the public welfare mode of think tank and social responsibility, thus injecting impetus to the sustainable development of the “Belt and Road” initiative.

Dr. Li and Prof. Mahbubani exchanged their own academic works as a token of friendship. Dr. Li also sent a delicate ceramic work named “Common Homeland” as a souvenir to the School and his book NGOs in China to students attending the lecture followed by book signing. The book was commended by H.E. Mr. Ban Ki-moon in an official letter as the “most worthwhile collection”.

In a tour guided by the School to the Lee Kong Chian Natural History Museum, H.E. Mr. Mohamed Rasheed, former UN high-ranking official made multiple cooperation proposals to the School and CWPF, both contributed to world peace with their respective think tanks.
