Li Ruohong, chairman of the China World Peace Foundation (CWPF)met with a delegation from the National University of Science and Technology ( NUST) Pakistan headed by Rector Asghar Muhanmmad and former vice chairman of Pakistani National Planning Committee, Mr. Sheikh Muhammad Akram as well as the accompanying Pakistani ambassador, envoy and counselor to China at the Peace Garden on October 21st.
Before the arrival of the NUST delegation, chairman Li Ruohong held a talk with Pakistani ambassador to China, Mr. Masood Khan. They recalled chairman Li’s visit to Pakistan in 2010, sang highly of the Sino-Pakistani friendship and exchanged views on some problems existing in the cultural and economic exchanges between the two countries. Li pointed out that it is neither comprehensive nor complete to establish the social economic and cultural exchanges by communications at the governmental level alone. He stated that the cooperative items between the two countries would be more possible to achieve substantial progress and achievement with the NGO functioning. The ambassador expressed that he fully agreed with chairman Li on this point. As a result, the two parties would establish relevant organization to accelerate the exchanges and cooperation between the two peoples and countries as well.
After visiting the Peace Garden, the delegation members watched a TV documentary of Peace Garden. In a friendly and ardent atmosphere, chairman Li Ruohong briefed the guests about CWPF’s achievement in enhancing international social, economic and cultural exchanges. NUST Professor Sheikh Muhammad Akram and both chairman and vice chairman of the delegation sang highly of CWPF’s great role in enhancing the exchanges in various fields between the two countries and proposed that peace and education programs should be conducted between China and Pakistan, Pakistan and the international community via the platform set up by CWPF in order to accelerate the development of science and technology as well as economy. Both parties agreed on the proposal. Ambassador Masood Khan expressed his hope that chairman Li would be able to see a fruitful result of the proposed items at this time next year if he could manage a tour to Pakistan. Chairman Li expressed his support with pleasure and made an arrangement for the delegation’s subsequent visit to Shanghai and Shandong province. He also wished the Sino-Pakistani cooperation in multiple fields a great success so as to contribute to Sino-Pakistani friendship.
