On September 21st, the 5th Peace Garden Peace Festival - the " Youth Eyes on the Silks Roads" International Photo Contest Awards Ceremony was held in Beijing. Mr. Ali Moussa Iye, Head of the History and Memory Section for Dialogue, UNSECO, attended and read a message from Madame Audrey Azoulay, Director-General of UNESCO.
In her message, Madame Audrey Azoulay said that “the fundamental human rights are a prerequisite for a peaceful society in which the dignity of all individuals is respected and everyone can fully enjoy equal rights.
She pointed out that “All kinds of challenges test our ability to build a world of harmony, understanding and peaceful coexistence: social and economic inequalities, which lead to distress and poverty; climate change, which gives rise to new conflicts; and the population explosion, which creates new tensions.” UNESCO promotes culture and peace through education and international cooperation throughout the world. Everyone should play an active role in moving forward on this road and always remind ourselves that we have a responsibility to build a more inclusive and just society.
It was reported that this “ Peace Festival” was co-organized by UNESCO, China World Peace Foundation, Beijing International Peace Culture Foundation and jointly supported by Beijing NGO Association for International Exchanges, Beijing Youth Federation, Beijing Returned Overseas Chinese Federation and Belt.china.org.cn.
