In order to promote regional peace and people-to-people exchanges between China and South Asia, Dr.Li Ruohong, President of China World Peace Foundation and Beijing International Peace Culture Foundation, visited Federal Democratic Republic of Nepal and Kingdom of Bhutan during the Chinese New Year. While climbing the mountain on the way to the holy Goemba of Bhutan, the delegation happened to meet King Wangchuk who was carrying the prince and Queen Gigai Pama .Although the two countries did not establish diplomatic relations, the King and Queen exchanged greetings with Mr. Li ruohong , asking the delegation how they felt about Bhutan and hoped the delegation to see more and more about the folk customs of Bhutan. Dr. Li Ruohong suggested to the King that Bhutan should open more tours to Chinese travelers in order to promote the friendship between the two peoples .The King happily agreed. Bhutan, though not affluent, has a GDP of only $700 and 60% of the country's revenue comes from tourism. However, it is free to go to university and has free medical service. All the people have faith which forms the "National Happiness Value" model of balanced development of energy and material resources. Its index of happiness is among the best in the world. We believe that with the development of the peace in South Asia and the more people-to-people exchanges between China and Bhutan will lead to a closer relationship of the two peoples. Accompanied by officials of Nepal Tourism Administration, we have had a cordial and sincere talk with Vidyadhara Rinpoche on the regional peace in South Asia, philosophy, people's livelihood, and the significance of the religion exchanges between China and Nepal in a new era. After the dialogue, Dr. Li Ruohong presented the Master with the book " NGO in China" in English and awarded him the Peace Medal of "Heyuan Peace Festival". The Master presented the delegation the commemorative booklet on which he left a message saying” May there be peace in the world.”

When the delegation left Nepal, the former Prime Minister and Foreign Minister of Nepal, Sujata , hosted a delicate dinner for Mr. Li Ruohong and his party. Nepalese officials, scholars and entrepreneurs had a in-depth and friendly discussion with the delegation on the development of the social, economy and culture in the " Belt and Road “initiative. Everyone hopes that in the cooperation between China and Nepal, full potential of the exchanges and cooperation between the government and the peoples should be realized, which is also the common need of South Asia.
