Dr. Li Ruohong gave his book China NGO to President Yameen
On December 7th 2017, the visiting Maldivian President Yameen, Maldivian Foreign Ministers and other cabinet officials held talks with Chinese representatives dedicated to the China-Maldives cooperation at Diaoyutai in Beijing. The discussion was presided over by Maldivian Ambassador to China Mohamed Faisal.

At the meeting, Dr. Li Ruohong, President of China World Peace Foundation, briefed the Maldivian President on the recent development of cooperation in international exchange, cultural exchange and social responsibility achieved by the China-Maldives Friendship Association over the years, and the investment programs of the Foundation’s partners. Li also put forward positive suggestions on the climate change, tourism, trade& services and regional influence between China and Maldives, and he asked about the latest rules formulated by Maldives in investment and trade.

The Maldivian President responded to Dr. Li's proposals in multiple fields and the Chinese-Maldivian cooperation project that intrigues the Chinese delegates. President Yameen introduced his government's planning in the future, pointing out that China is a friend of the Maldives, and that the trade volume between the two countries reached 180 million U.S. dollars in 2013, hitting a milestone in its economic development. China-Malaysia cooperation has achieved win-win results. The President said he hopes the new airport and the Friendship Bridge under construction will be completed on schedule next July which will boost other industries by expanding the number of tourists. The Maldives has provided housing for one third of its population, and more commercial and residential buildings will be built to meet people's needs. The President also said he hopes to further cooperate with China on climate change and diversified tourism projects so as to promote friendly cooperation between the two countries. The President hopes that the proposals and suggestions from Dr. Li and other representatives will create more space for development in promoting China-Maldives relations and prosperity.
