China World Peace Foundation donates to Maldives for youth drug rehabilitation program

On the Eve of World Peace Day and Chinese Mid-Autumn Festival, The 14th Peace Cup International Golf Tournament held by Beijing Investment Promotion Bureau, Beijing Association for Enterprises with Foreign Investment, Beijing People’s Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries, Beijing International Peace Culture Foundation and China World Peace Foundation was held at Beijing Qinghe Bay Golf Country Club on Sep 18th, 2013. This tournament was themed by “promote peace through sports, promote cooperation through public welfare programs, jointly build world city”. More than one hundred diplomatic envoys, presidents of multinational enterprises and social celebrities from all walks of life attended this event which had been concerned and supported by international society.

As the bridge of social, economic and cultural exchanges between different countries, Peace Cup Golf Tournament has been successfully held in the past successive 14 years. Each one of them has the same theme “peace”, and has been connected with different public welfare programs. The guests from different countries have paid attention to social hotspots and focus issues both at home and abroad, e.g. Wenchuan and Yushu earthquake zones, leukemia patients, schools for the blind, schools for the deaf-mutes, schools for children of migrant peasant workers, children with congenital heart diseases, Nepali schools for deaf-mutes, special sports fund for international organizations, etc. This year, the focus has been given to the youth drug rehabilitation programs in Maldives. The donation goes to Maldives Olympic Committee for providing timely and effective help.

Some well-known large enterprises like COFCO and China Territory Flight Council strongly supported to this tournament. The senior media professional Mrs. Mo Liren took a special trip here from USA and presented her book Romantic Gardening in America. On the dinner, the famous calligrapher Pang Zhonghua and other prestigious artists donated their works to Peace Garden Museum. This tournament was successfully closed with people’s longing for meeting next year.
