At the invitation of Morocco’s foreign affairs ministry and the Amadeus Institute, Chairman of the China World Peace Foundation (CWPF) and Sino-Moroccan Ibn Battuta Friendship Association, Mr. Li Ruohong attended the Fourth MEDays Forum held in Tangier, Morocco as a speaker from November 16th to 19th, 2011. The forum, with its theme being South under the Global Governance, invited worldwide political leaders, entrepreneurs, experts and scholars to participate in the discussions on such topics as climate change, South South Cooperation, situation in Arabian areas, and newly emerging countries’ role in global governance. The participants to the forum amounted to over 2200.
On the plenary session held on November 19th, CWPF chairman, Dr. Li Ruohong, together with former president of Colombia, foreign minister of Bosnia and Herzegovina, former secretary general of the UN peace keeping force, UN’s energy official, member of the advisory body of the U.S. Democratic Party and Nigeria’s ambassador to UN talked and spoke on the topic of international security crisis from different angles and aspects.
Dr. Li Ruohong expressed his unique ideas based on NGO, saying that the international security crisis should be settled through people’s wisdom and efforts and therefore we need international and regional coordinated actions for both prevention and management the crisis, adding that it needs the support from NGOs of various countries in addition to the cooperation between governments and enterprises to settle the crisis. He hoped that governments and NGOs of various countries should trust and appreciate each other to build effective partnerships, adding that NGOs, if adopting the Peace Plus One Mode for international public good, namely, peace and culture, education, health, sport and environment, will greatly contribute to UN’s Millennium Development Goals and easily gain people’s understanding and support, thus approving to be the most practical way to settle political and economic disputes normally hard to solve by means of diplomacy as well as finally break the ice. Dr. Li Ruohong’s speech won applauses from time to time and accepted interviews from medias of MEDays, Morocco, France and Poland.
